The Best Packaging to Ship Stuff

When you’re shipping items, you want to consider the packaging, as the right packaging makes sure that the item is safe and prevents customers from being unhappy. It makes sense, because regardless of the shipping carrier that a person uses, if you don’t secure the products in a proper manner, it’s going to fail.

However, before considering different products and the shipping, you must understand what types of products are going to be shipped. Otherwise, this is going to be a disaster.

With so many different options for the products, it’s more than just putting some items down, securing them, and throwing some tape on them. It ultimately starts with where you want to ship them and won’t end until the products are properly received by customers in a good, unbroken shape over the period of time.

Here are some things that you should consider before you ship anything.

The Importance of Packaging

Whether you’re someone that has a brick and mortar store, or working online, you need to focus on getting the products from your business to the customer. In fact, this is vital to the success of a business. However, good, improved packaging is more than just safely securing products.

In order to keep and bring back regulars, you want to make sure that the product is not broken, and together in one place. However, the packaging also needs to be simple for someone to open and appeal visually to customers.

The good packaging used also saves a lot of money because then there’s fewer types of incidents with having to replace the items that you send.

The Ideal Materials for Use

There are some materials that work better than others.

For starters, think about the outer and the exterior packaging. If you’re shipping it, you want to use packaging that’ll protect it.

Boxes and cartons are the best, and usually the most popular.  They may use corrugated materials because you can break these down and recycle them. The boxes come in different strengths and sizes, with the lighter products being shipped in corrugated or single walled boxes.

The heavier products may need a double walled box. Some also that are 40 pounds or more might even need rigid cartons in order to protect this.

Always pay mind to the box sizes that are needed.

For envelopes, you want to consider all of the options. There are a ton of couriers that offer different types of mailers. Bubble mailers also may have seals that are provided, and you just have to reseal them. They’re ideal for smaller types of packages.

Then there is flexible packaging that’s thick and exterior.  This is one that’s tricky, and if you can make it work, there are tons of savings on this.

The idea is to use a polyethylene bag over this and shrink wrap this around each of the products to ship them. Then, you don’t need to ship cartons and boxes. For instance, outdoor slides are one.  The slides are placed in some thick bags, with a label placed on this. It's a bit of a challenge, because you want to make sure that you can have it strong enough so that the product remains, and also has the cushioning necessary.

There is also secondary packaging, and this is what houses the item.  Usually, shrink wrap, poly bags, or even neck bands are a way to use this. shrink wrapping provides more layers of protection for the product, but you do need to be mindful of this, as it can be hard to seal the packaging.
